Ana Homayoun, Founder and Director
Since founding Green Ivy Educational Consulting, Ana has become a nationally recognized innovator of motivational organization and time-management strategies for junior high and high school students. Her first book, That Crumpled Paper Was Due Last Week, was released by Perigee (a division of Penguin Books) in January 2010. As a college counselor, Ana has successfully helped students - including Division I athletes, scholar athletes, and students with special circumstances - apply to a wide range of colleges throughout the United States. She personally spends four to six weeks each year traveling to colleges and universities around the nation and abroad in her quest to find colleges that fit the needs of her students. In addition, she spends a significant amount of time volunteering each year with children who have life-threatening illnesses. She is currently the Chair of the San Francisco Bay Area Regional Advisory Board for The Painted Turtle, a camp in Lake Elizabeth, CA that is a part of the Association of Hole in the Wall Gang Camps. A graduate of Duke University, she holds a Masters in School Counseling and a Pupil Personnel Services Credential from the University of San Francisco.
Ana is an active member of the Western Association for College Admission Counseling (WACAC), the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC), the Higher Educational Consultants Association (HECA) and the National Association of Professional Organizers (NAPO), participating in conferences and workshops throughout the year.
Allia
Allia is joining our team for the summer to assist students with academic and creative writing, reading comprehension and the college essay. During the school year, she teaches Academic Writing at UCSD and will begin her third year teaching at the college level this fall. She received her B.A. in English from Santa Clara University, her M.A. in English with Honors from California State University, Chico and is currently completing her Ph.D. in Literature at UCSD. Allia loves teaching, writing, reading, watching sports and being outdoors.
Emily
Emily is our fabulous office manager and master scheduler who keeps the office running smoothly on a day-to-day basis. Prior to working at Green Ivy, she worked for UnitedHealth Group as a customer service liason for select members. She also has over eight years of experience working with children at the Sonoma County Family YMCA doing childcare and enrichment programs. Emily graduated from California State University, Chico with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology focuses on Family Relations. In her spare time, Emily enjoys reading, cooking, and spending time with her family.
Nick
A recent graduate of Columbia University, Nick spent his four years there studying Astrophysics. He tutors all math, science, and SAT prep, as well as general organizational skills. His previous experiences include tutoring at the collegiate level and working as a research assistant at Columbia. In his spare time, he enjoys ice hockey, snowboarding, hiking, and basically any outdoor activity.
Maggie
A recent graduate of Stanford University, Maggie works with students on multiple subjects as well as SAT preparation and college essay writing. Before coming to Green Ivy, Maggie spent several years working as a private tutor for an in-home tutoring company, and was a counselor with the AIM high program for underserved students in Redwood City. When she isn't at work, Maggie enjoys reading, hiking, and traveling.
Ellen
Ellen works with students in all subject areas ranging from Algebra and Chemistry to SAT prep and Trigonometry. She earned both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in English from Stanford University. As an undergraduate, Ellen volunteered in East Palo Alto as a writing tutor, and also spent her summers as a Head Mentor for Stanford High School Summer College, leading seminars on college writing. Ellen enjoys reading and writing fiction, as well as hiking and running in the beautiful Bay Area.
Ulysses
Ulysses graduated from Stanford University with a major in Human Biology and was a Gates Millennium Scholar and a California Robert C. Byrd Scholar. At Stanford, he was the Associate Director of the Stanford Medical Youth Science Program and a member Phi Beta Kappa. He also worked as a Research Assistant on an Obesity Reduction Program. He tutors all levels of science and math, and is fluent in Spanish.
